Singapore HDB Stories: Taman Jurong's Lego Corner + Yishun's Superhero Library | On The Red Dot

This episode features three blocks with unique community spaces. At Block 702 Bedok Reservoir Road, residents have turned their resident’s corner into a mini-kampong – organising events from food distribution to free haircuts to massive potluck sessions. Then at Block 336 in Tah Ching Road, 56-year-old Mr Lee has transformed the void deck into a flexible workshop space with Lego-inspired furniture. Here, residents can unleash their creativity through brick art and get to know their neighbours. Finally at Block 436 Yishun Ave 11, Mr Chia converted a measly box of books to a shared space with more than 5 shelves full of reading material. It is now the largest community library at a HDB Block. The whole place was started with zero dollars – all the books are donated, and furniture are upcycled by Mr Chia and his woodworking volunteers. 0:00 Introduction 0:36 702 Bedok Reservoir Rd: kampong spirit 7:56 Lego corner at 336 Tah Ching Rd 15:36 Community library at Block 436 Yishun 11 =========== About On The Red Dot: CNA's weekly programme documents the stories of ordinary Singaporeans and celebrates their resilience, identity and sense of belonging. =========== On The Red Dot playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLkMf14VQEvTYbQaR9ddxnJmJRangPrY5f #CNAInsider #OnTheRedDot #Singapore #HDB #Community For more, SUBSCRIBE to CNA INSIDER https://cna.asia/insideryoutubesub Follow CNA INSIDER on: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/cnainsider/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/cnainsider/ Website: https://cna.asia/cnainsider

Fantasy is not final with LARPers (Live-Action Role-Playing), who take their roleplaying games into the real world. Rozz plays dress up and mingles with this costumed community. Rozz goes down the rabbit hole of live action role-playing, as she joins members of a local LARPing group, SG LARP. The members dress in character to fight mock battles, living out their fantasies in real life. Rozz also meets with a group of furries in Singapore.
